Facebook a five year old legendary company is relocating with its 850 local employees to a 150,000-square foot office building in the Stanford Research Park at 1601 S. California Ave.In this new office there are seperate floors/zone for different groups such as engineers will take the first floor, marketers the second and ad operations the third. Everyone gets "endless snacks all designed to keep the employees close at hand " It's another step in Facebook's evolution since its founding in a Harvard University dorm room. The company moved into downtown Palo Alto in 2004, although its office there quickly proved to be too small, forcing it to gobble up space in nearby buildings every few months to accommodate its tremendous growth.
The move, to start May 14, will consolidate the social networking giant into a single building,It offers no catchy name to its new neighbours just like Google's Googleplex. Here's one free suggestion from our side - How about Facebook Villa?
Also Facebook is looking for a new chief financial officer with "public company experience". It's the latest sign that the site may be looking to go public in the not-so-distant future. Yu became Facebook's CFO in July 2007 after stints with Yahoo Inc., Google's YouTube and a venture capital firm. Facebook says Yu has played an important role in establishing the company's core financial operations.
